US’ crude steel production in week ending Apr 2 falls

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending April 2, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.724 million short tons, decreasing by 0.1% from the same period a week ago and also falling by 3.5% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 79.3%, down by 0.1% week on week and rising by 0.5% year on year.

As of the week ending April 2, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to 22.911 million short tons, a year-on-year drop of 0.4%. The capacity utilization rate was 80.2%, a year-on-year growth of 3.1%.
