US’ crude steel production in week ending Feb 24 hikes

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending February 24, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.727 million short tons, slightly increasing by 0.3% from the same period a week ago and falling by 4.1% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 77.8%, rising by 0.3% week on week and down by 2.1% year on year.

As of the week ending February 24, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to around 13.38 million short tons, sliding 2.1% compared to the prior-year level. The capacity utilization rate was 76.7%, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%.
