US’ crude steel production in week ending May 6 falls

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending May 6, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.712 million short tons, slightly decreasing by 0.2% from the same period a week ago and dropping by 3.4% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 76.1%, down by 0.2% week on week and by 5.1% year on year.

As of the week ending May 6, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to 30.098 million short tons, a year-on-year drop of 4.3%. The capacity utilization rate was 74.7%, a year-on-year reduction of 5.6%.
