US’ hot-rolled steel bar imports fall in Jul

According to the final Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported a total of around 71,000 tons of hot-rolled steel bars in July, decreasing by 7.5% compared to the previous month and by 16.5% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, reaching around 29,100 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 4.4% and a year-on-year drop of 3.3%. Japan ranked second with around 12,600 tons.

During the period, the import value was around US$96 million, down by 3.5% month on month and by 18.7% year on year.
