US’ HRC imports increase in Sep

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 495,000 tons of hot-rolled flat products in September this year, rising by 15.7% compared to the previous month and also hiking by 191% from the same month a year earlier.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 258,400 tons, a month-on-month increase of 16.8% and a year-on-year surge of 321.9%. Other import sources included South Korea (around 31,100 tons), Turkey (around 28,200 tons), Mexico (around 25,600 tons), and the Netherlands (around 17,500 tons).

During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$345 million, up by 14.9% month on month and soaring by 387% year on year.
