US’ HRC imports rise in Apr m-o-m

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 205,100 tons of hot-rolled flat products in April, rising by nearly 19% compared to the previous month and also hiking by 95.4% from the same month a year earlier.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 104,300 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 11.6% and a year-on-year hike of 108.9%. Other import sources included South Korea (around 50,500 tons), Japan (around 23,300 tons), Turkey (around 10,800 tons), and the Netherlands (around 6,100 tons).

During the period, the import value totaled around US$178 million, up by 26.2% month on month and surging by 184% year on year.
