US’ SDI decides to construct aluminum mill in Mississippi

Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI), the US’ steel manufacturer, announced to construct a greenfield aluminum rolling mill in July. Recently, it decided to build the plant in Mississippi.

The new plant was expected to cost US$2.2 billion, and its production would be 650,000 metric tons per year. The mill would begin operation in early 2025. The mixed products included can sheets, automotive, and common alloys.

The project was one of the US’ investments in wrought aluminum production.
