US’ steel coils imports rise in Apr

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 104,700 tons of steel coils in April, increasing by 35.1% compared to the previous month and also rising by 60.4% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 68,500 tons, a month-on-month increase of 20.5% and a year-on-year hike of 77.5%. Other import sources included South Korea (around 18,600 tons), Sweden (around 4,200 tons), Germany (around 3,400 tons), and Turkey (around 1,800 tons).

During the period, the import value was roughly US$102 million, up by 56.6% month on month and 149.8% year on year.
