The Coalition of American Metal Manufacturers and Users (CAMMU), which represents more than 30,000 companies and a million workers, is calling for President Biden to end section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs which were put into effect three years ago.

It claimed that tariffs on steel and aluminum would harm the US consumer industry and small manufacturers. During the epidemic, the tariff also resulted in the current shortage of steel supply and the rapid rise of steel prices.

Under such circumstances, due to the limited capacity of the US steel industry, the output of the US steel industry can not meet the demand of US manufacturers, or manufacturers fail to buy steel at competitive prices.
