According to the Confederation of Mexican Workers, the imposition of new US tariffs of 25% against Mexican steel and aluminum exports will affect thousands of workers in various sectors.
The confederation indicated that approximately 800 thousand workers in sectors such as automotive, auto parts, metal mechanics, and metallurgy are most affected. Tereso Medina Ramírez, the secretary of the conference, warned that the reduction of jobs could continue if the automakers and suppliers move their production to the US.
