Vale & Beijing Jianlong group sign MOU for CO2 emission reduction

Vale and Beijing Jianlong Heavy Industry Group Co., Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to look for a new iron-making scheme to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

The MOU included using Tecnored technology and biochar technology in the plant of Jianlong group, opportunities for cooperation in overseas hot briquetted iron (HBI), beneficiation projects, as well as seeking the possibility of Vale's high-grade iron ore products applying to the new iron-making technology of Jianlong group.

The cooperation will drive Vale to commit to cutting net carbon emissions by 15% by 2035.
