Vedanta Aluminium COO Sunil Gupta takes helm as the new CII Odisha chairman

Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Vedanta Ltd’s Aluminium Business, has taken over as Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Odisha State Council for the 2025-26 term. Gupta previously served as the Council’s Vice Chairman during 2024-25.

Meanwhile, Suresha G, Executive Director (Odisha Assets Operation) at AM/NS India, has been appointed as the new Vice Chairman. The announcements were made during CII Odisha’s annual day event last month.

“CII aims to catalyse inclusive economic progress across the state by expanding its operations, particularly in western Odisha, and partnering closely with the government. We will also focus on strengthening the industrial ecosystem by promoting green building certification, enhancing export potential, and improving infrastructure,” added Gupta.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Gupta highlighted CII’s strategic commitment to advancing Odisha’s growth across key sectors such as MSMEs, metals and mining, healthcare, agriculture, and food processing.

Suresha reiterated the council’s commitment to leveraging CII’s Centres of Excellence to bring sectoral expertise to Odisha. Suresha reaffirmed the council’s dedication to utilising CII’s Centres of Excellence to deliver sector-specific expertise to Odisha.

“We will support job creation and productivity by providing training on GST, GEM, TQM, and export documentation while collaborating on the skill development of youths,” added Suresha.
