According to Walsin Lihwa, the world's nickel production capacity is mainly concentrated in China and Indonesia. The global production of nickel pig iron was expected to rise to 1.56 million nickel tons this year, up by nearly 20% year on year, as disruptions from the epidemic have subsided and local power infrastructure has improved.

With Indonesia's ban on mining exports, the nickel pig iron production chain has accelerated its transfer from China to Indonesia, which has become nickel pig iron's largest producer in the world.

Walsin Lihwa's Indonesia nickel pig iron plant was completed in the middle of last year, and power plants were also started at the end of last year. Supplies are mainly to local steel mills in Indonesia for stainless steel smelting.
