Alcoa announced that it has reached an agreement with Speira, a global aluminum rolling and recycling company, to supply it with its low-carbon aluminum EcoLum, which is produced by hydroelectric-powered aluminum smelters and has no more than 4 tons of carbon dioxide for every ton of aluminum produced.

Kelly Thomas, Alcoa’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, said that this agreement will help Speira to achieve its goal of sustainability. Reinhild Schmidt, Speira’s Senior Vice President of Strategic Operations, also said that the deal is in line with the company’s target of sustainability.
