Alcoa Corporation announced to suspend its curtailment plan at San Ciprián aluminum smelter in Spain because the High Court of Justice of Galicia made a ruling that the firm's collective dismissal process was invalid. However, Alcoa said that the firm would maintain its plan of reorganization at the San Ciprián smelter.

Alcoa announced on October 9, 2020 to reduce this smelter's production capacity by 228,000 tons per year and conduct a collective dismissal process after a four-month negotiation.

Nevertheless, the court’s ruling didn’t resolve the problem of the labor strike.
