ArcelorMittal France is building a ladle furnace at its Fos-sur-Mer steel plant, with an investment of EUR 73 million.

The new furnace will greatly increase the use of recycled steel in the steelmaking process by 2025, thereby reducing the carbon footprint by 10% at this plant.

Besides, the Fos-sur-Mer plant’s electric arc furnace (EAF) will be commissioned by 2030, which will cut carbon emissions by 35%, meeting the company’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
