The world's leading steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal launched a new steel named HyMatch® for the construction of hydrogen pipelines to support the development of hydrogen gas infrastructure.

The company focuses its research and development work on developing steel grades that can withstand the high-pressure transport of pure hydrogen as part of the energy transition, in line with the EU’s aim to produce 10 million tons of renewable hydrogen by 2030.

ArcelorMittal is now working on research programs to use steel in the hydrogen infrastructure in several production sites. The company is also improving the performance of its hydrogen-focused steel products through continued investment in internal research and development, as well as active participation in international joint industrial projects and European funding projects.
