Aluar, the only primary aluminum producer in Argentina, reported its capacity utilization rate at 70% in 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic and weather, Aluar suspended its production at the beginning of 2020, while the firm said it will continue to seek plans to resume the remaining capacity.

In March 2020, Aluar decided to cut production due to the epidemic in Latin America. The production capacity at its Puerto Madryn primary aluminum plant was reduced by 25%.
