Assofermet, an Italian steel trade association, expressed concerns about the news that the EU has launched anti-dumping (AD) investigations on stainless steel cold rolled products from India and Indonesia.

Assofermet said that in addition to imposing a definitive AD duty on stainless steel hot rolled coils in Indonesia, China, and Taiwan, the EU also implemented safeguard quota measures to protect European manufacturers, but it harmed the interests of end consumers.

The association stated that such a blockade measure will trigger an unjustified increase in price in the EU market, and the EU manufacturing industry will be forced to purchase steel at high prices. It will also affect the commercial relationship between the EU and its long-term partners.

Assofermet believed that EU organizations should correct the unfair competition behavior.
