According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Australia's export value of iron ore in January dropped by A$963 million or 7% compared to the previous month.

In terms of volume, the exports of Australia's iron ore decreased by 10.4 million tons or 13% from December 2020.

The decline in both export value and volume was due to the impact on iron ore exporting by tropical cyclone Lucas in January.

However, the ABS pointed out that the rising iron ore prices partially offset the impact of the declined iron ore exports.
