Baker Hughes: US rig counts grow, Canada’s fall

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on February 7, 2025, the US rotary rig count grew by four week on week to 586 units. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas went up by two to 100 units, and that for oil rose by one to 480 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 37 units or 6%.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count dropped by nine to 249 units from the previous week, including 177 oil rigs (down by nine week on week) and 72 gas rigs (stable week on week). Canada’s rig number grew by 17 compared to the same period a year ago.
