Guinea is the second-biggest supplier of bauxite in the world, but the suddenly happened military coup in Guinea last Sunday caused strong misgivings globally upon the stability of bauxite supplies. As a result, the bauxite price reached its highest level after the coup.

However, according to experts, bauxite mining operations were not greatly influenced by the coup. Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco) said its operations are continuing as usual.

Also, the bauxite mining operations in Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) and Alcoa were not greatly influenced neither.
