According to statistics, Brazil’s alumina exports amounted to around 586,500 tons in September this year, sliding by 3.32% compared to the same month a year ago. The decrease was due to less export volume from the Alumar alumina refinery during the period.

Alcoa has previously announced on September 20 to restart 268,000 tons per year of aluminum capacity at the Alumar smelter. The first molten metal was expected to be produced in the second quarter of 2022, and full production will be resumed in the fourth quarter of the same year. By 2024, this alumina refinery will be operated with 100% renewable energy.
