Brazil’s iron ore exports hike in Sep

According to statistics from the Brazil Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), Brazil’s iron ore exports totaled nearly 37 million tons in September, rising by 7.6% compared to the previous month and by 3.6% from the year-ago level.

In the three quarters of this year, Brazil’s iron ore exports amounted to approximately 290 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. Among them, the shipment to China accounted for the largest proportion at 66% of the total.

The value of Brazil’s iron ore exports in the January-September period was roughly US$23 billion, an increase of 6.4% compared to the same period a year earlier. The export value in September alone was down by 11% year on year to US$2.4 billion.
