Century Aluminum of South Carolina signs 3-year power contract with Santee Cooper

Century Aluminum of South Carolina (CASC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Century Aluminum Co., said on March 25 that it had signed a three-year new power contract with Santee Cooper, the state-owned electric and water utility in South Carolina.

According to the agreement, Santee Cooper will provide a minimum of 290MW of electricity, which will raise Mt. Holly aluminum smelter’s production by 50%.

The new contract will come into force on April 1, 2021, valid until December 2023.
