The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced that it will adjust import and export tariffs for some commodities in 2023 to promote high-quality domestic industrial development and speed up industrial upgrading. After the adjustment, China’s overall tariff level decreased to 7.3% from 7.4%.

In order to better use domestic and foreign resources, 1,020 items will be imposed with a provisional import duty rate lower than the most-favored-nation tariff rate from January this year. The most-favored-nation tariff rate on 62 types of information technology products will be reduced from July 1.

At the same time, import tariffs on some consumer and industrial goods were lowered, and export tariffs on aluminum and aluminum alloys were increased.
