According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China's bauxite imports totaled 20.68 million tons in April, a month-on-month increase of 25.7% and a year-on-year rise of 45.4%.
In the same period, alumina exports soared by 101.6% year on year to 263,000 tons, despite an 11.4% month-on-month decrease.
Primary aluminum imports had a month-on-month increase of 12.8% and a year-on-year rise of 14.7%, reaching 250,500 tons. Aluminum scrap imports also grew, up by 3.8% month on month and by 5.5% year on year, totaling 190,000 tons.
