According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China’s bauxite imports totaled 11.63 million tons in August this year, rising by 9% compared to the same month a year ago.

Bauxite is the main raw material of aluminum, so the increase in bauxite imports reflected higher aluminum production in China in August.

During the period, China’s primary aluminum output reached 3.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%.

In the first eight months of this year, China imported a total of around 96.6 million tons of bauxite, hiking by 11.8% from the corresponding period a year earlier.
