Hydro held an opening ceremony for its newly built HyForge casting line at its aluminum recycling plant in Rackwitz, Germany on September 14.

The investment, with a value of EUR 40 million, was aimed at the decarbonization of the automotive industry and will significantly improve the recycling of post-consumer aluminum scrap.

The new production line can provide customers with aluminum billets in a smaller diameter and better surface quality that can be directly forged into high-quality automotive parts and other products and skip additional processes such as extrusion or homogenization.
