In the first six months of this year, China's coal imports from Indonesia, Russia, Mongolia, Philippines, the US, South Africa, and Columbia decreased year on year. Among them, China imported from South Africa, and Columbia significantly decreased by 69% and 90%, respectively.

The reason for China's coal imports from South Africa and Columbia's decrease is the high global demand for coal, making the two countries' coal prices increase. In addition, the shipping fee from the two countries to China is high.

On the contrary, in the first six months of this year, the EU's coal imports from South Africa and Columbia hiked by 7.6 times and 114% year on year. This summer, most of the European countries faced high-temperature records.

Hence, the electricity demand soared. Because of the severe shortage of natural gas supply, imported coal has risen significantly. Most of South Africa, Columbia, and Australia's high-calorie coal was already booked by European countries.
