China’s crude steel output expected to slide in 2021

According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, the country produced around 946.4 million tons of crude steel in the first 11 months of this year, dropping by 2.6% compared to the same period a year ago.

China’s crude steel output is likely to slide by more than 20 million tons in 2021 compared to last year due to the production restrictions and falling demand in winter, predicted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China. It will be the first year-on-year drop since 2016.
