According to statistics from China Iron and Steel Association, in mid-July, the crude steel production of association member mills was 2.25 million tons per day, a year-on-year increase of 0.33%. China’s crude steel output during this period was expected to increase by 0.27% compared with early July, reaching 3.04 million tons per day.

It was said Baosteel has been asked to control its production below last year's level, which will push up steel prices, especially for hot-rolled products. However, this news hasn’t been confirmed officially.

China’s authority said that global crude steel production in 2023 will not surpass the output last year. The government will introduce some policies to promote consumption, improve the real estate market environment, and boost economic recovery.
