The scheduled production of stainless steel in China increased significantly in May. The planned production totaled more than 2.5 million tons, a new high in the year. Higher scheduled production has led to more procurement with positively rising offers.

According to market participants, the increase in the stainless steel production schedule has made the demand for ferrochrome become better. However, the present increase in production schedule is mostly due to the increase in trade purchases. Steel mills are not optimistic about the entire market, believing the production schedule may decrease in the future and the long-term trend is still subject to the improvement of stainless steel terminal consumption.
