In 2023, the operating rate of Chinese steel pipe mills drew a downtrend line decorating with fluctuation. Up to the last week, 32 enterprises followed by Chinese media as examples totally produced 309,600 tons of steel pipes, 22,300 tons less than the previous year.

Before September came, most of the pipe mills started their inspection and maintenance to fight against the decreasing market demand.

As for pipe inventories, the stock level remained relatively high at the moment, which could cause pipe mills to cut more supply. However, since September is a normal peak season for delivery in China's northern region, market participants still expected the demand to improve within this month.
