China’s stainless steel imports & exports statistics in May & Jan-May

According to statistics, China’s stainless steel imports totaled around 230,000 tons in May this year, dropping by 3.8% compared to the previous month and also sliding by 24.1% from the year-ago period.

Among them, the imports from Indonesia occupied a big proportion, with around 189,000 tons, while the volume had a month-on-month decrease of 3.53% and a year-on-year drop of 24.5%.

In the first five months of this year, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to approximately 1.41 million tons, up by 19.4% month on month and by 21.5% year on year.

In terms of exports, China exported a total of around 487,000 tons of stainless steel in May, rising by 27.5% and 32.9% month on month and year on year, respectively. The five-month exports amounted to 1.93 million tons, rising by 33.7% and 13.44% month on month and year-on-year, separately.
