Due to the war and sanctions, Rusal, one of the biggest aluminum producers in the world, is facing a shortage of alumina, the main raw material for aluminum production.

It was understood that China’s traders are now raising their sales of alumina to Rusal. A number of more than 200,000 tons of alumina could be exported for April and May, a large proportion of which would be shipped to Russia.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Rusal has lost 40% of its aluminum supply. Therefore, the supply from China might ease the shortage being faced by Rusal now.
