Colombia implements export quota on steel scraps

According to the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Trade, Colombia has implemented scrap export restrictions on steel scraps under HS codes 7204.10.00.00, 7204.21.00.00, 7204.29.00.00, 7204.30.00.00, 7204.41.00.00, 7204.49.00.00, and 7204.50.00.00, with a six-month export quota of 28,404 tons, valid until March 2021.

The decision was made due to a decrease in domestic scrap supply and to ensure the local sources of these materials for steel production.

In addition, the local government also recommended an export quota of 38,675 tons for six months, for exports of aluminum, nickel, lead, and zinc waste and scrap.
