According to the report, Taiwan’s carbon steel producer China Steel Corporation (CSC) has completed the carbon emission and carbon footprint certification, meanwhile, they have been recognized by a third-party impartial organization. The performance of product carbon reduction is better than that of the European Union (EU) steel mills because the EU decided to implement the "Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)" for imported steel products in October this year.

Some market participants indicated that the EU planned to implement the CBAM for upstream and downstream products such as imported steel and aluminum from October 2023. During the trial period, importers must report carbon emissions for imported products and formally impose carbon tariffs in 2027, promoting the trend of high steel prices and carbon neutrality.
