Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), a premium aluminum producer based in the UAE and the largest aluminum producer in the Middle East, and PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Persero) (Inalum) signed an agreement to license its DX+ Ultra smelting technology to Inalum for the Kuala Tanjung aluminum smelter expansion project in North Sumatra.

Under the agreement, EGA has the right to have a minority stake in this project and purchase most of the metals produced by the smelter.

The existing aluminum smelter uses hydroelectric power. After the expansion is completed, the project was expected to produce more than 400,000 tons of aluminum per year, depending on the results of the feasibility study.
