Egypt calls off additional taxes on imported industrial steels

Egyptian government began to impose a 10% additional tax on imported finished steel, under HS codes 7208, 7209, 7210, 7211, 7212, 7213, 7214, 7215, and 7216, on June 24.

However, in order to respond to the needs of the local steel industry, the Egyptian Ministry of Finance decided to call off 10% additional taxes on imported industrial finished steel on July 13.

The definition of industrial steel company from the Egyptian Ministry of Finance included rolling and pipe producers, metal service centers, household equipment manufacturers, and engineering companies, as well as end-users such as automobile manufacturers and home appliance manufacturers.
