According to the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry, it has decided to extend the anti-dumping (AD) duties on imports of reinforcing bars from China, Turkey, and Ukraine. The AD duties will be extended for additional four years, effective from June 2023 until June 2027.

This AD tax has been in effect since 2017. The extension still keeps the same AD rate, which is 29% for China, 7-22.8% for Turkey, and 17.2-27% for Ukraine.

The local metallurgical industry had appealed to the Ministry of Trade and Industry to maintain the AD measures on these products in order to protect the domestic industry. However, some merchants, real estate agents, and manufacturers had called for the cancelation of this imposition as they will have to face higher costs of construction steel and real estate.
