In the first half of 2020, the Turkish importation of stainless steel continued growing in a stable way despite the negative influence of COVID-19.

As the statistics showed, in the first half of this year, Turkey has imported 29.3% more stainless steel than the same period of the previous year, totally summed as 302,000 tons of stainless steel, mainly hot-rolled products.

However, since Turkey has already made adjustments on the import tariff of stainless steel by increasing it from 5% to 17%, in the market the general view was that from the second half of the year the stainless steel exportation from China and Taiwan to Turkey will meet certain limitation.
