After confirming unfair subsidies received by India and Indonesia’s cold-rolled flat stainless steel products, the EU decided to impose countervailing duties (CVD) on subject products from India and Indonesia.

The CVD rate for India was set at up to 7.5% and that for Indonesia was up to 21.4%. These duty rates will be added to anti-dumping duties imposed last November, which are in a range of 10.0%-35.3% for India and 9.3%-20.2% for Indonesia.

The EU said that these combined tariffs make the protection level of the EU steel industry reach over 40%, thereby offsetting the unfair advantage brought by these trade-distorting practices to the steel imports from Indonesia and India.
