European steel industry calls for reduction of flat steel import quota

It was reported that Eurometal announced that flat steel product shipments fell by 18.5% during January to April compared with the same period of 2019.

European steel producers urged EU to reduce import quotas because a large number of steel imports had threatened the steel industry which has been ravaged by COVID-19 epidemic. The statement pointed out that steel companies against to recent adjustment of protection measures of EU which began in 2018.

Statement signed include important global steel producer such as ArcelorMittal, TataSteel, ThyssenKrupp and Salzgitter.
