According to statistics, the EU’s hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports totaled around 837,000 tons in April, rising by 47% compared to the preceding month but falling by 5.4% from the corresponding period a year ago. The month-on-month increase was mainly due to higher demand for inventory replenishment from last December to this February.

During the period, the EU’s HRC imports from India accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 159,900 tons, a year-on-year increase of 30.6%. Egypt ranked second, with 99,700 tons, surging by 158% year on year. Japan followed Egypt with 94,200 tons, a year-on-year hike of 51.2%.
