Fagersta Stainless, a stainless steel wire rod and wire manufacturer in Sweden, is partnering with Danieli for a second project, installing a new stainless steel blooming mill at its plant in Fagersta, Sweden, for its products, including Inconel and SuperDuplex grades.

The mill, with an annual production capacity of 70,000 tons, will produce round bars and billets with diameters ranging from 35 to 220 mm, enhancing its product range and operational flexibility. The mill allows for immediate rolling to the existing wire rod mill for the finest grain sizes, additional rolling via a new reversing shiftable stand, and continuous mill with in-line quenching, and then being sent to a new finishing area.

The project includes modernizing a breakdown mill stand since 1943 for automatic operation and installing six new low-consumption, hydrogen-ready Danieli pit furnaces. A smart automatic crane will ensure smooth material handling. The plant will use Danieli Automation's process control systems.
