Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer, the Saudi Deputy Minister for Mining Affairs, said that the Arab region is home to one of the largest aluminum production facilities in the world, accounting for around 10% of production globally.

Global aluminum demand was expected to grow by 20% to 30% over the next seven years, creating growth opportunities for the aluminum industry in the region.

Since the launch of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has been working to become a global hub for metal production on the grounds that the country has competitive advantages such as favorable energy prices and strategically advantageous geographical locations.

Saudi Arabia aims to double and quadruple bauxite and aluminum production capacity respectively, and triple primary aluminum production capacity by 2030.
