According to statistics, despite certain mining suspension due to the COVID-19 epidemic, global bauxite supply was expected to have a slight year-on-year decrease of 0.1% to 344 million tons this year, showing that the epidemic had little impact on the whole bauxite supply and aluminum prices.

However, the epidemic brought a more obvious impact on bauxite-producing countries with smaller production capacity, such as Indonesia, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Ghana, etc. The bauxite production from these countries accounted for 10.8% of the global production in 2019, and their output was predicted to drop by 8.6% year on year to 33.8 million tons this year, occupying 9.8% of the total production in the world.
