Global crude steel output decreases in Dec 2021

According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), in December 2021, the crude steel output from 64 countries included in statistics amounted to 158.7 million tons, falling by 3% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, the output in Africa was down by 9.6% to 1.2 million tons, that in Asia and Oceania was down by 4.4% to 116.1 million tons, that in the CIS countries was down by 3% to 8.9 million tons, that in the EU’s 27 countries decreased by 1.4% to 11.1 million tons, that in other European countries fell by 0.8% to 4.3 million tons, that in the Middle East hiked by 22.1% to 3.9 million tons, that in North America grew by 7.5% to 9.7 million tons, and that in South America slid by 8.7% to 3.5 million tons, all compared to December 2020.
