According to reports, the global primary aluminum market faced an oversupply of around 1.34 million tons from January to June of this year, compared to an oversupply of 735,000 tons in 2019.

In the first six months of this year, the global primary aluminum demand was 31.58 million tons, decreasing by 190,000 tons from the same period in 2019.
The figure of demand was calculated based on apparent benchmarks, and the impact of the national blockade to curb the novel coronavirus epidemic might not fully show on the statistics.

During the same period, China's apparent demand for primary aluminum had a year-on-year increase of 4.8%, and semi-finished products demand was up by 9.7% year on year.
